Oakeshott joins Bowraville Chamber of Commerce | Rob Oakeshott | Independent for Cowper

Independent candidate for Cowper, Rob Oakeshott, has taken out membership of the Bowraville Chamber of Commerce to show support for the new team there.

Rob with Karly Lane (Secretary) and Gay Larkin (President)

“It takes many hands to build strong communities and strong relationships. I joined up to demonstrate my support for building the strongest possible community-focused Chamber," Mr Oakeshott said.

“More broadly, throughout the region, I always encourage businesses and individuals to join local Chambers. Strong community organisations build strong relationships and that makes stronger communities.

"Anyone who has been involved in any local volunteer or community group knows the old cliché – many hands make light work – is true.

“At Bowra, I can see Gay and Karly and the Chamber team want the best for their community, and I support their push to bring people and businesses together," said Oakeshott.

"They told me they are looking to lure more of the camping and caravanning market to town; they are exploring whether there is enough interest in a return of the 'Back to Bowra' festival; they want to boost training and education services and they are weighing up options for beautification of the river entrance to town.

“These are all valuable projects for a strong community, and I look forward to helping wherever appropriate," Oakeshott said.

“Also there is a lot of interest in the coming health development at the top of town. It was good to be there while the Local Health Network was showing off ideas for the facility, creating lots of discussion.

“An added bonus was bumping into local elder Cr Martin Ballangarry OAM and hearing his views on future directions for Bowra. I look forward to further discussions with him," said Oakeshott.
